“Uber says to contact Checkr, and Checkr says to contact Uber. I can't even locate my report.”
We hear this most. a public complaint about Checkr, PissedConsumer, May 22, 2024 — from someone in the same position.
The company that wrote the report and the one that used it point at each other, and the letter to each is yours to write.
Every piece of this is free on this site first. The Kit writes both letters for your company and your dates, and hands you the calendar, in one sitting.
One payment, no subscription. Stripe takes the card on its own page and sends you straight back here to the Kit.
The Kit does not know anything these pages do not, and you can write every letter in it yourself from them. What it sells is the writing: it sets it all out for your company, your situation and your dates in one sitting.
The day-counts are the statute's, and the Kit counts them from the day the screening company receives your dispute, because that is the day the law counts from.
| Clock | Days | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Ask the screening company for your free copy, after the notice | 60 days | 15 U.S.C. 1681j(b) |
| The screening company reinvestigates what you dispute | 30 days from receipt | 15 U.S.C. 1681i(a)(1) |
| ...if you send more evidence part-way through | 30 + 15 days | 15 U.S.C. 1681i(a)(1) |
| A waiting period before the landlord or employer decides | none in the statute | FTC staff advisory opinion to Weisberg, June 27, 1997 — guidance to employers, not statute, and not enforceable by the applicant |
The Kit asks What is inaccurate about the record? and asks you to tick one box: I confirm the information I am disputing is inaccurate or incomplete.
Only then does it write anything.
If you tell it the record is accurate, it writes nothing, says so plainly, and your payment is refunded in full. A dispute corrects errors; it does not make a true record go away, and we will not sell you a letter that pretends otherwise.
Self-help document preparation, nothing more. You send every letter and file every complaint yourself; we contact nobody for you, file nothing for you and act for nobody. No outcome is promised for the fee, and the Kit will not write a dispute of a record you tell it is accurate.
Everything you type into the Kit stays in your browser and is never sent to us. We keep one thing: a random access link tied to the Stripe payment, so the Kit opens again if you come back. The card is taken by Stripe on Stripe's own page; we never see it.
One payment, no subscription. Stripe takes the card on its own page and sends you straight back here to the Kit.
I built this for the evening after the letter arrives, when you know what is wrong and cannot face writing it twice, once to the company and once to whoever turned you down. Everything in it is on this site for free, and I would rather you used the free pages than paid for something you did not need.

Thank you. That goes straight to the person who writes these pages.
That didn't send — try once more.
